Which one is the better of the two? Reasons?
I’d ask about the PSP go, but seeing as how I’m just getting back into video games, I’m not really interested in springing for the highest priced items, haha. So, keep in mind that I’m not exactly a hardcore gamer anymore … just tryna get back into the swing of gaming things, I guess, lol.
I’ve had a DS Phat, DS Lite, and a DSi. I think the Lite is the worst of the three, mainly because the design of the system is pretty bad. Those things get hinge cracks like there’s no tomorrow, and shoulder buttons can’t be expected to last for more than a year unless you’re really lucky. It IS brighter than the original DS, but that’s about the only advantage over it. The only thing it has over the DSi is the GBA slot, which it managed to ruin anyway, since the game juts out like half an inch from the system while it’s inserted.
DSi also has bigger (even moreso with the new XL/LL), brighter screens, is more powerful, has some decent exclusive games in terms of DSiWare, and it’s supposedly going to get some DSi-exclusive games as well.
Also, a quick thing about your PSP question. I wouldn’t recommend the Go to ANYONE. The PSP 3000 (and 1000/2000, but they’re out of print) can do MUCH more, and they’re a LOT cheaper as well. The Go has absolutely nothing over the other models. It’s quite a bit more expensive, it CAN’T play any UMD games, which means that the system can’t even play half of the PSP’s library (including some really great games), since you can only play games from Sony’s PlayStation Store online, which is usually severely overpriced in itself. Even if you for some reason like the whole digital-download thing, the other PSP models can do it, not just the Go. And a 3000 with a 16GB memory stick is cheaper than the Go, believe it or not.
I’m probably going to get a DS sometime after Christmas, mainly so I can play Pokemon Platinum and later soul silver or heart gold. Money really isn’t a problem, but I want to know how reliant are gamers on old GBA cartridges to fill up the pokedex? Would I be able to find people willing to trade the pokemon i can’t get via palpark if I get a DSi(or the upcoming DSi XL?)? I mean, I could see someone friendly helping people out with pokemon that can be bred, but what about legendaries?
im right here with ya. i did have a whole page typed but the freaking computer screwed up. i would get the ds because their going to remake all the games for the ds.ive heard their going to remake sapphire and ruby. Plz reply
p.s. i dont know you but maybe we can be friends lol
I currently own an original model nintendo ds. I’m wanting to upgrade one to the DSi or DS Lite, but I’m not sure which. I’m leaning towards the DSi, though.
I just want to know which system is better. Answers from people who actually own the consoles would be great.
– Thanks!
unless you have GBA games that you just can’t live without, go for the DSi
4x the speed, 2x the memory, bigger/brighter screen, improved wi-fi, free Internet browser, free animation software (Flipnote Studio), direct connectivity to social networking sites (Facebook and Hatena, with more coming), exclusive features on DSi-enhanced games, DSi-only games (yes, there really are), downloadable content, online DSiWare store for games and apps …
wow, i always give up before i even get to the camera and music player … XD
i want to get a nintendo ds or dsi but what i want to know if it is really
worth getting the dsi for 169.99
or should i just get the ds lite for 129.99
this question is an easy 10 points!
right now i have the money for a ds lite and a game or two i would have to spend all of my money and i would not be able to get a game until at least 2 or 3 weeks
and i already have the psp go so stop telling me about the internet
Well, the DSI has more features. It can play music and take pictures. It’s lighter and longer than a regular DS, and I think it has better screen quality. The DSI comes in many colors. The DS has PictoChat and it’s heavier and bulkier. It comes in a few colors. They both have WiFi, Multi-player games, PictoChat, and a place where you can edit the time and your name. I would prefer the DSI. My cousin has the DSI. I just have a DS. Get the DSI, it’s worth it.
I have the Nintendo DS lite…and was thinking of upgrading to the nintendo dsi. Is it worth the extra money? What are the main differences? And does the DSi come in red & black (the color scheme I have and love on my DS lite)
Thanks for you answers!
Regular DS does everything DSi can do except
download game wirelessly
camera
better graphics
light for if you are on wifi(flashing power button on DS)
slimmer
and that’s pretty much it
that’s assuming you have flash cart though
I don’t think using extra money is worth it
you have to pay for downloading games
create you own app for specific flashcart so its like a camera
graphics don’t affect gameplay
who cares about the extra light
who cares if its slimmer unless you want to use it like a music player which DS can alredy do pretty good
Which one am I better off buying?
In my opinion, there’s not much difference between the two.
The DSi has a camera, you can browse the net, it’s design is slightly different to the DS Lite and you can’t play Gameboy Advance games on it.
Depends on what you are looking for. If you want the camera and want to be able to download games from the shop channel then go with the DSi. If you don’t really care about that stuff and you want to play GBA games, then get the DS lite. Personally, I don’t really find the DSi necessary. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is cool and all, but you don’t really need it and there aren’t that many positives to buying one over a DS lite.. It sounds to me that you don’t sound too interested in the DSi features anyway so I recommend the DS Lite. You can save some money that way.
Hey I recently purchased a game for the DS called Dragon Quest V from Amazon.co.uk because I had a gift certificate which could only be used there. The dealer had a 99% positive rating and was the seller that was referred right on the Amazon profile page for that game.
Not sure if I’m being paranoid or not, its a UK game so its a bit different but I just want to make sure its definitely not fake. From what I researched online, the cart appears legit -
1) It has the code NTR-YV5P-EUR on the front
2) The sticker is placed on correctly, no screw on the front
3) The back has the etched "Nintendo NTR-005 PAT. PEND." followed by a code in black ink "YV5PN0J22"
3) The chip is gold
4) The green bar on the chip has the code "▼DI J-4 Y08-01"
5) The case and manual are in vibrant colors, no smudging or blurry text
Ok, so what is concerning me are these 2 things:
1) The health & safety booklet is black with white text, it has white pages inside, but is folded up as compared to my US games where its a white booklet with a staple.
2) The catridge sticker – everything seems to check out except the words "The Hand of the Heavenly Bride" in the logo are so tiny that you can’t even read them. I’m not sure if this is because they were too many words and the logo was smushed in a small spot.
I don’t own a DSi. I hear you can tell if the game is fake because DSi won’t play it. I have a DS Lite and the game seems to be working fine. So can someone help me out here?
I had contacted the dealer beforehand to ask about this and he all their products were brand new (it was factory sealed) and genuine.
If his rating is REALLY HIGH such as his, he won’t want to be giving out fake games,
If your that worried by it you can send it back, but by the sounds of things everything is alright,
I think paranoia is taking over haha
I would go with the DSi or DSlite simply because there are games she can grow with unlike the VTech and V Smile products which are only intended for small children. The Nintendo’s are meant for any age with the games that you deem appropriate for her age group and then as she gets older there will be more mature games for her to play. Plus the DS’s have carrying cases and bigger stylus’ for smaller hands so you can find one with something like Hello Kitty or the Disney Princesses on them.
nintendo dsI vs Ds Lite
The new DSI does not have a GBA slot sadly =(
But it takes SD cards now i believe
