actualy its because they wanted to get the ds out before the psp was released and nintendo felt it would make the system cost to much to add the hardware/software for all game types anyway,im sure they wanted it to cost less then psp also.stupid move on nintendos part in my opinion,could’ve atleast added an emulator or some kind of software…

It just works with GBA games and not GBC games. the GB/GBC games dont fit in the slot because the pins are arranged differently or something. Why the redesign? well it’s because including the ability to play GB/GBC games into the design of the DS would have been difficult to do while still retaining a small form factor or some crap like that. So, to make it more obvious they used a different contact pin arrangement that wouldn’t make the connection and “stick” with GBC games
