Does it matter whether I buy the Nintendo DS Lite or the DSi?

I’m thinking about buying a DS sometime in the future. I know the DSi has all those new features, but I’d prefer to buy the DS Lite just to save money and I really don’t care much for the new features on the DSi. I just want to play the games, but I’m worried if whether Nintendo is going to stop making games for the DS Lite and start only making games for the DSi in the future?

Yeah, they play the exact same game cartridges. However, the lite is a lot smaller than the DSi, and the DSi comes with all the extra features. Additionally, if you have any game boy advance games the DS lite is also backwards compatible with the GBA cartidges.

  3. no they will always make ds lite. its just the same thing only the dsi has a camera so some developers may make games that make use of the camera that you would be able to play

  4. They may stop making games for the DS Lite, but that’d be 1, 2, or even 3 years away. Plus theres only a couple games out ONLY for DSi. I like DSi becuase of its features, but just for gaming, I’d go for the DS Lite. ;)

  5. That would be impossible. If they stop making game cartridges for the DS Lite, they would also be stopping it for the DSi. They use the same game cartridges. Just get the DS Lite if you only want to play games. Forget about the DSi. Besides, the Nintendo 3DS is coming out next year so the DSi won’t be the newest product. (excluding the DSi XL which is just a large DSi)

  6. Right now there isn’t a big difference but some of the newer games need the photo feature the DSi has.
If you don’t care about some of those games then i suggest a DS Lite.

  8. Nintendo DS Lite is getting on now. Its been around for a long time, its had countless new ds lite bundles, colours, starter packs and its still going strong. otherwise i they would have ditched it when the dsi came out. there’s loads of good games for the nintendo ds already out. new games, who knows. its even been rumoured a new 3d nintendo is coming out, which almost certainly will change interoperability.

buy a nintendo ds lite console for ds games and gba games
buy a nintendo dsi for dsiware, sharing photos on facebook etc
