I doubt the DS wouldn’t be able to play the game the that fast if it was running normally, it even says the speed the CPU is running at up the top.

That’s only really true in the case of PC games which are built to run on many different kinds of processors and therefore check themselves against other things like framerate, console games expect to always be played on the same unit, so if you slow down or speed up the clock, the game will slow down or speed up along with it.

This is sped up, nothing to do with overclocking. Overclocking a CPU will increase the clock speeds, to make it able of handling more, and it does not affect the speed of the games.
