This is my first time buying a DS console. The lack of GBA slot is not a problem as I owned a GBA SP. So which DS should I buy?
I am leaning towards the DS Lite but Nintendo says they might make more games in the future which requires the camera on DSi.
The DSi is much better. Unless you want to play one of the like 5 out of 400 DS games it cannot play (such as guitar hero because of the duo slot). There are much more features than one would think on the DSi, and I can explain it to you in the simplest way possible. The DSi is like a portable Wii with more features, but less memory and less power (memory doesn’t really matter because the DS games are cartridges). Overall, the DS lite doesn’t even hold a candle to the DSi. The DSi is the best buy for you, especially since you have the GBA so most things you don’t miss out on. Plus the DSi has a DSiWare version of guitar hero you can download when you first buy it (before Oct. 5th ONLY will you get the 1000 free points and you have to be in US). Good luck on your choice and yes, Nintendo is planning on making the DS lite obsolete in about 2 years (by making most games DSi exclusive or DSi enhanced) so there’s another reason to buy the DSi.

The Lack of GBA slot IS A PROBLEM since many games have a "Dual Slot Connection" feature, like, for example if you have pokemon firered and wanna put ur pokemon in pokemon diamont u need a dual slot…
But anyways, I would get the DSi, since it is WAY better, its got a camara, mp3 player, internet acces and tons more… it is also smaller.
Another thing is that the DSi is more expansive than the DS Lite (actually the DSi is just as expansive as the DS Lite on its release)…

If you want internet access, a camera, and music/mp3, you should get the dsi. If you just want something to play your video games with, with no extra features the the ds is what you want.

I would go for the dsi as a time will come when games will require a future that only on the DSi.

I think Z pretty much told you everything you need to know. Now let me just say this…I know that they are remaking pokemon Gold and silver, for the DS and they are calling it pokemon heat gold and soul silver…My point is that if they are even remaking those games for the DS, what else can they remake? (they will probably remake more GB games and GBA games too) I suggest you go out and at least buy whichever one you feel good about.

It depends on what you want. Do you still have the Gameboy SP? If so, then that pushes you towards the DSi. The DSi also has the camera and more things available for download. All the DS games work on the DSi and that pushes you more. A DS lite is sort of outdated. If you don’t have a GBA player then that pushes you towards the DS lite.
In all it’s about DSi Wins 4-1
